Induction process for new staff
All new staff (including casual and fixed term) are to be formally inducted to Auckland City Libraries. It is the responsibility of each Manager to ensure that a formal induction takes place. The induction must cover Health and Safety, computer software skills and training and development.
Within the first month of starting a role the team leader or manager is responsible for setting up a meeting with their new staff to explain the PDP process, clarify duties and expectations, discuss goals and determine professional development needs. It is recommended that agreed specific goals be listed as an induction objective and training and development should be indentified in their individual development plan
Following are links to documents that you can use to induct new staff to their role. Scroll down to find suggested training workshops for new staff that you can use in conjunction with the individual development plan
Training for new staff
To register staff, go to the training calendar for dates and register online. Ideally new staff should complete training within four months of start date.
Those workshops identified with an asterisk are mandatory for all staff; except staff still at secondary school. Managers to use discretion for the Council workshops whether they send staff - we recommend staff that work more than 10 hours per week should attend all workshops.
