Study support
Auckland City Libraries study support scheme for staff is designed to assist staff by providing study leave and up to 50% reimbursement of passed course fees (excludes books and enrolment fees). Study leave is to be negotiated direct with the applicant’s team leader or manager.

Study support reimbursement process
Once you have received notification from your tertiary institute that you have passed a paper you can apply for reimbursement.
- If this is the first time you have applied for reimbursement, you will also need to complete a a new vendor form, attach a deposit slip and send to professional development adviser, Library 3.
- Complete an ACL study support reimbursement form.
- Complete a payment requisition form (Note Accounts will only accept typed forms).
- Attach a copy of an invoice (not a statement) and a student record which shows that you have passed a paper.
- Signature is required both from yourself and manager as shown on the forms.
- Forward to professional development advisor.
- If you have forgotten your vendor number please email libraryfinance@aucklandcity.govt.nz
Study leave guidelines
· one hour of study leave per week is granted for each paper currently being studies, per semester (based on employees working 40 hour week)
· study leave may be accumulated throughout each semester but cannot be carried over into the following semester
· study leave is to be used only for the purposes of study related activity and is not paid out during employment or on termination of employment
· all study leave must be applied for in advance on Auckland City Council leave forms and be approved by their manager. All study leave taken must be recorded through Employee Self Service (ESS).
Discount for staff studying through The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand
Auckland City Library staff studying through The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand is entitled to receive a 25% discount upon enrolment. This offer is also extended to immediate family.
To receive this discount, you must use the pre-coded enrolment form below as it states that you are an employee of “Auckland City Council”.
Reimbursement process for LIANZA professional registration
Following is the reimbursement process to support staff who register for the LIANZA professional registration scheme. Any employee that has been awarded LIANZA professional registration (RLIANZA) will be entitled to apply each year for reimbursement of the annual registration fee. Note your fee in the first year may be billed on a pro-rata basis to align with your LIANZA membership.
The following outlines the reimbursement process:
- Complete a cheque requisition form for reimbursement
- Attach a copy of the invoice paid to LIANZA.
- Signature is required from both yourself and your manager.
- Forward a hard copy to professional development advisor.
Note: if this is the first time you have applied for reimbursement, you will also need to complete a new vendor form and enclose a deposit slip.
