Performance development plan (PDP)

Description

Purpose:

The purpose of this process it to show staff how they contribute to the library business focus and provide a measureable record of staff achievements and progress.  Click on link for more information about the PDP process on Citynet.

 

Role of staff

  • actively participate in PDP reviews and discussions
  • update employee comments to demonstrate outcomes achieved since last meeting
  • insert a password on your PDP document and send password to manager 

 

Role of team leader

  • set and agree on PDP objectives and with staff member by 2010
  • file PDP on g drive / libraries / human resources / performance review 
  • initiate regular meetings (we recommend at least bi monthly)
  • write motivational and corrective feedback in manager comments
  • complete the annual performance review by 30 June each year

Objectives for new staff:

New staff should be introduced to the PDP in their first month.  Use this objective as a guideline for the 2010/2011 financial year:

 

Objective

Complete induction plan for the first 6 months

 

Expected result

  • attend induction training (Millennium, ACL Orientation, Customer service, Reference interview, Readers advisory, DPI & manual handling skills etc) as directed by my manager
  • complete on the job training to learn about technologies, collections and services to customers (Including BeWise learning sheets) 
  • buddy with …… to learn presentation standards, shelving techniques and your personal activity list
  • become familiar with searching and saving information on the G drive and Libraryzone

 

 

Objectives for shelvers

Use this example of expected results for delivering on position description for shelvers:

  • shelve items accurately according to shelving standards
  • collections presentation standards are actively applied
  • prioritise shelving according to demand (experienced)
  • check with senior staff to prioritise shelving (not so experienced)

 

An example you may use under expected results of customer service for shelvers are:

  • refer customers for enquiries appropriately
